The National Museum was first opened in June 1952 at the Jubilee Hall Building on Shwedagon Pagoda Road, Yangon. It was shifted to and opened at 24/26 Pansoda Street Building on 8 February 1970.Now the National Museum is located at No.66/74 Pyay Road , Dagon Township, that was opened on 18 September 1996.

  1. To collect artifacts on ancient Myanmar cultural heritage
  2. To preserve and conserve the collected cultural heritage.
  3. To display the cultural heritage for public.
  4. To make research and publish about the cultural heritage.
  5. To disseminate the public including students and youth for upgrading patriotism.
  6. To protect the displayed objects and collected objects from the danger of natural disaster and pets.
